It does not crash here on Windows 7.

msvcrt.dll is a standard component of Windows. Perhaps it is a bug in Windows Vista. Does it happen every with this file? Does it happen immediately at the start, or at a specific time in the video?

It happens with all this type of .mov video that comes from Telegraph messenger application. Other file types don't cause any problem. The crash occurs immediately at the start. however it play fine on another Windows 10 computer. Maybe my msvcrt.dll is outdated?

Scan that file with http://www.virustotal.com

You should be able to see if it is a known file, and thus not damaged.

I will try playing the file on a Vista system as soon as possible.

Tested on a clean install of Vista SP2 (without updates). No crash. Now going to install all Windows updates to see if it makes any difference.

No problem with a fully updated system either.

I am using a virtual machine, so I haven't used the default video renderer in MPC-HC, but used "Enhanced Video Renderer" instead. Maybe that makes a difference.
