"utCompiledCode" error Empty "utCompiledCode" error

Post by arocket Mon Apr 04, 2016 1:33 am

Dear Forum:

Hello.  I'm new here, but I made sure to run a search of both the forums and the FAQ file for the keyword "utCompiledCode."  There was nothing.  I'm wanting to uninstall my older version of the K-Lite Codec Pack, but keep getting this error message: "Cannot find utCompiledCode record for this version of the uninstaller."

  • This has happened repeatedly and consistently with multiple attempts to uninstall the codec.

  • I have Windows 7 Home Premium

  • The codec is K-Lite Codec Pack 11.4.0 Full

  • I did a dumb thing as per a suggestion elsewhere online: I tried simply deleting the K-Lite folder and its contents, but that accomplished nothing

Thus as of right now, I'm unable to install an updated codec, because I can't get rid of the old one.

Thanks in advance for any responses!

-Andy

Just run the installer of the new version. I will remove the old one and all its leftovers.

Thanks for responding - but no, that doesn't work. I get the same popup message. I need to know how to thoroughly root the old version of K-Lite out of my computer, so as to install the new pack.

If you run the installer of the new version, it will execute the uninstaller of the old version. It does not matter if you get an error. If the uninstall fails it should offer to remove the old version manually. What happens in your case after the "utCompiledCode" error?

Re-installing 11.4.0 should also fix the damaged uninstaller file.

Wow, I'm really frustrated here - but it's not K-Lite's fault, apparently!  I'm trying to use a program called Mercalli Easy Video Stabilizer, which earlier had served me well.  Just before I began this thread, it started telling me I needed a codec upgrade, and it gave me a link for K-Lite.  But the link only takes me to the 7.1.0 edition for some reason, and so when I started this thread, that's the version I was trying to install.  But now installing first 11.4.0, then 12.1.5 - that worked!

So now I have the very latest K-Lite, but when I reopened Mercalli, the same message was there, telling me I need a codec update.  Frig, I can't believe it. I realize we're now talking about someone else's software, but if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Thanks for your help so far!!!

As far as I know you can just ignore the warning from Mercalli. It should just use whatever codecs you currently have installed.

I suggest contacting them and recommend that they update to a more recent version.
