MPC-HC wont work

Post by baardh on Fri Jul 17, 2015 11:59 pm

MPC-HC works great in the 11.2.0 version but when I have tried all the newer versions it stopped working with all sorts of videofiles. Have anyone else had this problem? Do I need to change settings or what? Thankful for any help

Did you also try 11.2.8?

Does MPC-HC crash? If so, follow these steps:

1) Download the latest official nightly build here:
https://nightly.mpc-hc.org/
Pick the .7z file. You can extract that with 7-Zip or WinRAR.
2) Extract the files somewhere. This is just for testing, you can delete the files afterwards, so location is not important.
3) Delete the file mpciconlib.dll (to prevent file associations from breaking)
4) Run MPC-HC
5) Drag & drop a file onto it.
6) You should get a prompt about submitting a crash report. Allow it to send it. It should open a webpage at DrDump.com. Please copy the link of that page here. Then I can see what caused your problem.

The crash happens in fshook64.dll, which is a component of F-Secure Antivirus.

Can I fix it? Change some settings in f-secure or something?

That file is related to the HIPS functionality of F-Secure. Disabling that (if possible) might solve it.

I suggest reporting the problem to F-Secure. They should be able to fix it. That DrDump link should provide them with useful information about the crash.
