K-Lite codec pack interferes with music transferring to phone.
Hi there. There's an issue I have with the codec pack. Whenever I try to transfer music (FLAC files) from my PC to my phone (a Galaxy S4), it just doesn't work. It gets stuck and files don't get transferred.
When I check on my system tray I see lots of LAV filter thingies open. Seems like something that has to do with the LAV filter/decoder prevents me from transferring music to my cellphone.
So whenever I wanna transfer music to my phone, I have to uninstall the K-Lite Codec Pack.
Does anyone know another workaround or a fix?
Thank you.
PS: Transferring mp3 or WAV files works without problems. It's just the FLAC files, not sure if it happens with other lossless formats too.

If those icons show up it means the files are being decoded. So your transfer tool is probably trying to convert those files to another format. Is that intentional? Doesn't the S4 support FLAC files directly?
You can temporarily disable the LAV Filters with the Codec Tweak Tool.
(CTT > Codec and Filter Management > DirectShow)
Try disabling LAV Splitter and see if that solves the problem. If it does, then we can blacklist the Samsung software in the codecs. Then it won't use LAV Filters anymore.
Which software are you using to transfer the files?

Which software..? Technically.. Windows Explorer. In other words, no software. I'm just transferring the files (like I always do) from the hard drive to the cellphone as if it was another hard drive or pendrive, through copy+paste. (I use Win 8.1)
I'll get back on you later on the LAV issue to see if that works.
Thanks for the reply.
PS: Yes, it does support FLAC files, if you're wondering.

Very strange. The icons should never show up on a normal file copy operation. Perhaps you accidentally pressed enter, causing the files to be opened/played?
Re: K-Lite codec pack interferes with music transferring to phone.
No Mr. Admin. This has happened to me before, like... I don't remember if this year or last year. I always try several times to see if it works and it's not me pressing anything out of the ordinary.
I went through several PC formats already, as well as phone resets, if you're wondering.
Btw, the LAV icons (there are 2, I think one blue and one white? not sure), they stay there. Every time I try to transfer they accumulate.

White = splitter
Blue = audio decoder
The icons probably disappear if you move your mouse over them. They can stay behind if the systemtray isn't properly refreshed.
Does the same thing occur if you only select a file in Explorer? And if you copy to another folder on the PC, so not to the phone?

I'll do the "tests" later and I'll get back to you on that.

Re: K-Lite codec pack interferes with music transferring to phone.
A bug in the Icaros PropertyHandler was the most likely cause of this problem. This issue has been fixed. The updated version will be included in the next version of the codec pack (10.9.5).
Re: K-Lite codec pack interferes with music transferring to phone.
Hey there,
I've just experienced very same problem and Google Search brought me here. I can not transfer any .mkv file to my Samsung Tablet PC although my pack version is 11.2.0. I've uninstalled the Codec Pack and the problem is solved. Such a strange problem, please Admin do something about it. I don't want to uninstall my Codec Pack on a regular basis
Adding: I used Codec Tweak Tool to disable LAV Splitter and it worked. I can transfer my files now.

Re: K-Lite codec pack interferes with music transferring to phone.
How do you transfer the files? Using a special program, or can you access the tablet memory the same way as you do with an external harddrive or usb stick?
If disabling LAV Splitter solves it, it means something is attempting to use it (incorrectly).

There's no special program Admin, it is simply drag and drop. I transfer my files directly to the tablet memory via Samsung USB cable. By the way, my PC's operating System is Win 7 and the device is Galaxy Tab 3.

Re: K-Lite codec pack interferes with music transferring to phone.
Can you try re-installing the pack with "Icaros PropertyHandler" disabled? Select the Expert install mode to see all options.

Admin, I uninstalled the pack and re-installed it with "Icaros PropertyHandler" disabled but it did not help. It seems only solution is the Codec Tweak Tool at the moment.

Re: K-Lite codec pack interferes with music transferring to phone.
I am still curious why LAV Splitter is being used. I suspect that your phone is not connected in "Mass Storage mode" (like a normal external drive) but rather using "Media Transfer Protocol (MTP)".
Here are two possible solutions:
http://superuser.com/questions/402225/disable-prompt-to-convert-videos-copied-to-media-device
And if that does not work, then a method to disable LAV Splitter just for Explorer:

- Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Media Type\Extensions\.flac]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LAV64\Splitter\Blacklist]
"explorer.exe"=dword:00000001
Re: K-Lite codec pack interferes with music transferring to phone.
And if you are using Windows 8 or newer, try deleting this Registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.flac\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\PlayTo
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.flac\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\PlayTo
