Dual subtitles

Post by alexpi86 on Tue Aug 16, 2011 2:49 am

Hi guys
this is my first post here, I registered only to ask you if is possible to activate dual subtitles in media player classic.
If it isn't, why do you not implement this feature in a future release? I think should be very useful, other players already manage double subtitles natively.
Thanky you, sorry for my english

We don't develop MPC. I also don't think the developers of MPC have much interest in implementing this functionality.

But there is a trick to get double subtitles.
1) You must use the internal subtitle renderer of MPC. This is used for the first subtitle.
2) You can not use any DXVA decoder.
3a) Change the value of the registry value "BlockVSFilter" to 0. You can find that value in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Gabest\Media Player Classic\Settings
Then DirectVobSub can be used for the second subtitle.
OR
3b) Use ffdshow as decoder and enable its internal subtitle filter for displaying the second subtitle.

You also need to adjust the subtitle positioning settings in DirectVobSub/ffdshow to place it above/under the first subtitle.
