How do I undo whatever changes K-Lite did? WMV quality problems
Hi.
After installing the basic package (originally to enable WMV support in VDub, which didn't work out) I noticed that the display quality of WMV files was drastically worse (yellow tinge, blurrier) than before in MPC and WMP. Expecting an uninstall to fix this again, I removed K-Lite with the provided deinstaller.
However, this did nothing except mess up my Camtasia install, which I was luckily able to repair. Afterwards, I tried to do a system restore, which again did nothing. The only player that plays WMV files in the old quality is VLC. How do I fix this?

The codec pack does not change how WMV videos are played by WMP. Uninstall also properly reverts all changes made by the codec pack. The only permanent changes are specific fixes made by the pack, for example by its broken codec detection. The user is always notified about such fixes.
My guess is that your WMV problem was caused by a graphics driver update, or a change in the driver settings.
VirtualDub uses VFW type codecs. Such codecs are not included in the Basic version. Only in the Mega version. However, it only contains VFW codecs for the AVI container. For opening other file formats with VirtualDub you need special plugins. You can find more information on the VirtualDub website and forum. This is a plugin for WMV:

The codec pack should not touch any Camtasia stuff. Only the broken codec detection might have done something. Did you get any prompts related to that? Which Camtasia version are you using?
Can you post this log? That could be helpful. Codec Tweak Tool > Generate Log.

During installation of the codec pack, select LAV Video/Audio/Splitter for Windows Media. Then MPC-HC will no longer use the codecs from Microsoft (which seem broken on your system). It should give same quality as VLC. WMP will always use the Microsoft codecs.
