It can handle UHD just fine. The player will resize the video when it is too large to fit your screen. I can't say more at this time, because you did not provide any details about the player, renderer, and screen resolution.

4k UHD Help Empty Re: 4k UHD Help

Im using the latest version of K Lite and VLC , I'm coming out of a GeForce GTX 660ti , now here's where it gets interesting ...I'm going into a Matrox triple head to with either Display Port or DVI D and that feeds 3 edge blended Christie Digital WUXGA 14K M series projectors giving me a total resolution of 5700 x 1200. The problem is my desktop wallpaper is across all three images but the video is only in the center and the players show the output is 1920x1080 while the content shows 3840 x 2160.

Sorry I am updating my Graphics driver now because the latest K Lite 1.0. 65 is crashing WMP

First of all, I don't know if it is even possible to play video on the virtual 5760 x 1200 screen. It seems that the player just sees the individual displays. Extended desktop and surround gaming are features specifically implemented in Windows and graphics drivers. Video playback is something totally different. And even if it were possible, you would make little use of the extra displays due to the aspect ratio of the video. Most of the extra space would be occupied by black bars on the sides.

So given a single display with a resolution of 1920x1200, the video will be displayed at 1920x1080 (to maintain correct aspect ratio) and padded with black bars at the top/bottom.
